Ironton, Minnesota (Wednesday, July 23, 2008): Defending ASA Late Model Series Northern Division Champion, Trent Snyder was hoping to shake off a strong of bad luck by trying something out of the ordinary and even trying a new division to run in.
Snyder, as well as part-time teammate, Scott Rueschenberg, and 17-year-old Victor Pfluger all went down to the fast 2 mile Progressively Banked Paved Tri-Oval of Concord Motorsport Park in Concord, North Carolina back on July 12th for an ASALMS Southern Division event. Snyder was hoping to snap out of what has become a season long funk.
Unfortunately the bad luck for the reigning ASALMS Northern Division Champion continued and on the first lap of the Super Sonic 100 no less! After Qualifying third, Snyder was involved in what turned out to be a seven-car pile-up heading into the dogleg of the uniquely shaped facility and suffered damage to severe to repair. Snyder was credited with a 24th place finish.
Out of the three that went down, Pfluger was the highest finisher as he garnered an 11th place showing in his ASALMS Debut after starting 21st. Rueschenberg was involved in a Lap 63 incident and was shown 21st in the running order.
"If it weren't for bad luck, I wouldn't have any luck at all this season!" A dejected Snyder relayed. "We were taken out for whatever reason on the first freaking lap in Concord!" The 24-year-old added!
Snyder will try again to end the skid that has plagued his efforts to defend his ASALMS North Championship this Weekend during Border Wars!
Friday, July 25, 2008 the team will race at Madison International Speedway in Oregon, Wisconsin for the Mayor of Madison 100 before making the one hour trip South to Rockford Speedway the next morning on Saturday, July 26, 2008 for the King of Rockford 100.
Heading into Border Wars Weekend, Snyder has One Top Five finish, which was a second place showing in the GunBroker.com 100 Presented by ASI Limited back on April 25th at O'Reilly Raceway Park at Indianapolis and is 11th in the season long points chase.
"We're really looking forward to Madison; we lead about half the race there last year and finished on the podium." The Ironton, Minnesota driver added. "I think we have a really strong chance of running well there and at Rockford. We just need to get this season turned around."
In his last ASALMS North race, the wicked fast high-banks of I-70 Speedway, located East of Kansas City in Odessa, Missouri served as hosts for the fourth race of the 2008 racing season in the ASALMS Northern Division, the Light Up The Night 150 on July 5th!
The Gopher State driver started the day off right by winning his first ARP Bodies / Aluminum Racing Products Fast Qualifier Award of the season. He then drew a Seven (7) for an inversion, placing him inside the fourth row for the 150-lap feature.
Unfortunately, the bad luck bug bit him once again! After climbing up too as high as third in the Feature, a flat right rear tire and ensuing rear end problems forced him out of the event with a very disappointing 22nd place showing.
"We clearly had the best car at I-70 and cut a tire wile running third on our way to the front. Then we came back out last, worked our way up back into the Top 10 and then a rear end quick change gear goes out!" Snyder continued. "We'll just keep working hard on the cars and we'll move onto this weekend at Madison and Rockford." He ended.
Snyder continues to wheel his familiar Red #88 Chevrolet with sponsorship from Performance Concepts as well as Dondelinger Chevrolet Jean Ross Eyewear, Elite Care, National Fleet Graphics, Hedman Headers, Shannon's Auto Body, Race Car Help.com, Desert Mountain Medical, ImARaceFreak.com, Racing Air Products Extreme, M.P.H. Promotions, and Trent Snyder Racing.
Snyder=s teammate, Rueschenberg is driving a team car to Snyder=s and his #25 Chevrolet Impala will make select appearances this season carrying decals from Elite Care as well as his own business, Desert Mountain Medical. Breg Incorporated, GAT Racing, ImARaceFreak.com, M.P.H. Promotions, and Trent Snyder Racing are also on the car.
